Then it was lunch, and people generally stood around nervously looking for somebody they knew. Or, in Arisha's case, moved around trying to get rid of the people they didn't really want to know.
Hanna quickly found Merry and Pippin - whom she had followed to school in the first place- and introduced them to her new friends, Ara and Arisha. Meanwhile Primrose was searching for her friends, Frodo, Sam and Rosie.
"What class is next?" asked Dimnovian.
"Erm, watersports I think... I wonder who teaches that?" Arisha looked at the others for some sort of answer. Then, finding none, turned back and glared at Nov, wondering why he was still standing behind her. Finally she sighed and turned back to the group. She figured he would leave when they ended up back in their dorms, after all, even bad smells leave when you have a shower.
Ara took a plastic-but-pretending-to-be-metal tray from the pile and lined up behind a wood-elf that looked somewhat familiar.
"Who's that?" she asked Arisha quietly
"Dagnir."
Oh, so this was the elf that she had been partnered with in their previous lesson. He had seemed nice enough at the time, he didn't even complain when her wooden sword had messed up his hair, then hit him in the chin as she aimed for his leg. He hadn't commented at all in fact.
The food was a pretty average cafeteria standard. Basically it resembled pub food, without the alcohol. Oh, and one other difference, lembas, Elronds specialty. They were all quite curious at this being on the menu, wondering if there would be any trekking done during classes. Some were excited at this thought, others began considering the other schools they had heard about before coming here.
"Surely we're not going on any long journeys, are we?" whispered Nov to Cinalen. Then at a glare from the slightly evil-looking dwarf behind the counter hurried on, nearly tripping over a hobbit in his path.
"I'm sure that the watersports will be enough of a challenge, without any sort of journey." said Frodo, looking paler at the thought of water, or possibly the realization that Nov's toe was squashing his foot into the stone floor.
In fact it took close to the whole lesson to convince the stubborn creatures that they would not drown instantly, and that yes the floaties would support them. Finally Sam decided to try it first, and after a bit of screaming and scrabbling ((tehe i love that word)) on his part, the others followed. It didn't take long for some to admit that they were actually (shock, horror) enjoying the swimming. All had gotten the idea except poor Merry, who couldn't work out how to get to the wall, and kept sinking in the middle.
"Very well, next lesson then. You are all dismissed." The hobbits got out and ran.
"Hello, hello! Now to help you all get aquainted I think you should all share with the class a brief description of yourself, your family, and how you came to be at this truly hospitable school! Ah! You are all nervous I see! Very well, I will tell you briefly about myself, break the ice, you know. Ah yes I know you have heard the whole story a million times Frodo, but you can listen just the same!"
"I was once asked to to on a journey, with 13 dwarves, led by Gandalf. The leader of the dwarves was Thorin Oakenshield, my the mood swings that fellow used to have. Yes, once was my best friend, then threatened to kill me, ah bless his dear soul. He always was a bit greedy though-" Frodo coughed loudly "Oh, right, the story. Along the way we met many people, Beorn, the Eagles, Wargs, Goblins, Lake-men, hahaha yes. Mmm, oh, we even met the dear Lord Elrond, but you all know him! What a wonderful fellow he is.." Frodo coughed again "Ah, yes, anyway... This journey led us to the Lonely Mountain, aptly named if I do say so.. There was dear old Smaug, a dragon" a unanimous gasp from the class, and a yawn from Frodo "haha yes he was clever, damn good sense of smell.. Very good a riddles too, worked everything out from the barrel-rider comment.. That was silly... Do you want a drink or something Frodo? Oh, sorry.. Where was I?"
He paused for a moment. "Anyway, dear Smaug was sitting on the dwarves' treasure. Mind you he had eaten most of the dwarves who were meant to inherit the stuff, but Thorin and some other survived and were bent on finding it. We did find it, oh there was a terrible war over that.. I believe they called it the Battle of Five Armies... But maps, yes maps. There was one particular map that we used for that journey, it showed the Lonely Mountain. Directions to a secret door.. That door, isn't there now, and such good workmanship too.. Looked exactly like the side of the mountain, ah but Smaug broke it" a coughing fit was erupting from Frodo's corner "all right, all right! I get the hint! This map was written on in runes, and moon-letters. Mysterious things those are! Can only be seen under the light of the moon under which they were written. Elrond taught me about moon-letters. Hm writing them is always fun to do.. Haha. But I'm sure reading will be quite enough for you lot, that's difficult enough to last us at least a year!" He chuckled to himself. "Tell me about yourself." He looked at Arisha.
"Arisha.. Mr Bilbo sir."
"Well I am an elf. I like archery, and swordfighting. I think that is all. Oh and I'm Cinalen."
"Oh, well, I was going to join an army but my parents said that I had to learn more acedemicish stuff first. So, yeah."
Bilbo now looked at Hanna.
"I, um, followed Merry and Pippin. My name is Hanna and I'm from Hobbiton." she sat down so fast she hit her elbow on the table.
"Well I'm Primrose, I don't know Hanna because I'm not from Hobbiton. I came with Sam, Frodo and Ro-"
"Of course! Forgive me dear! Frodo has told me about you!! Ah how silly I am!"
"Erm, well.. I like cooking. It's great, all food is good but food you cook yourself is the best. I think so anyway." she blushed.
"Yes, yes I cook! I love to cook! I remember I once told a troll that I cook better than I cook. That was when he was considering eating me. They were funny creatures, three of them, all roasting mutton on their fingers. Not too bright though -"
"Bilbo!" Frodo was laughing. "You've lost the point again!"
Bilbo's eyes unglazed. "Oh, it's time to go isn't it! Very well, run along then!"
So it was finally the end of the day, and a tiring one too. The group soon found a spot by the river, under some trees. They all collapsed on the grass (not in a heap, more in a messy, slightly tangled, blob) and just generally talked.
"So, back on the topic of families, where are you from Ara? Can I call you Ara?"
"Sure, you can. Erm, I don't really come from anywhere in particular. I just kind of travel around. I got tricked into coming here by Elrond. Sneaky devil he is. Oh well, I thought it would be horrible. So far it's not bad.
"Who else haven't we heard about?" Frodo looked around. Oh come on, nobody wants to hear my story again! Hm, or maybe we can just go back to our rooms. I think it should be dinner soon anyway. hmm, wonder what the food will be like..." He and the other hobbits were then lost in their own thoughts about what dinner may be. Occasionally with a bit of drooling involved. So the other, slightly less food-oriented, creatures continued talking for a bit longer.

The gaggle of girls, half laughing-half crying from exhaustion collapsed into a heap on the nice grass.
"Well that was exciting" Ara giggled, turning her head to look at her friends "Good job chasing that cow away from Primrose, Arisha."
The gaggle of girls giggled. It had been an amusing adventure: they had somehow stumbled into a paddock and a cow had tried to charge them but Arisha had jumped on its back and chased it away.
"Yeah, thanks Arisha. I thought it was going to gobble me up for lunch!" Primrose laughed
Arisha smiled "No problem Primrose".
'Maybe these girls aren't so bad' she thought to herself.
The girls almost forgot they were actually supposed to be in class. That is until the teacher, purple with rage, walked over and stood above them, arms folded in rather a threatening manner across his chest.
"Girls, you are 15 minutes late for my lesson. Tardiness is something I simply cannot stand. One person I may have forgiven, but not a group of you." The teacher glared at the group of girls, they quickly got up off the ground, dusted themselves off slightly and stood in a row, looking guilty.
"Mr Haldir," Arisha began, a sweet smile plastered on her face, "we got lost, we would never be late to your class on purpose, the school is just so big we couldn't find where to go." (she battered her eyelashes in an innocent manner)
Haldir's icy gaze melted slightly
"I will let you off just this once, but if any of you come into my class late again it will be sharpening swords after school for you."
The girls nodded as Haldir walked off towards some other students who were finding their sword training just a little bit too fun *cough Dagnir cough*. Grateful to be out of his line of fire the girls picked up some nearby swords and copied what the other students were doing.
The group of girls were introduced to some other kids in class. When they had to pair up to practice swordfighting. They met Cinalen, Dagnir, Pippin, and Arisha (to her disgust) already
knew Dimnovion.

Wood-elves: (e.g Dagnir) "These are not wicked folk. If they have a fault it is a distrust for stangers. Though their magic was strong , even in those days they were wary. They differed from the high elves of the west, and were more dangerous and less wise. For most of them (together with their scattered relations in the hills and mountains) were descended from the ancient tribes that never went to Faerie in the West. There the Light-elves and the Deep-elves and the Sea-elves went and lived for ages, and grew fairer and wiser and more learned, and invented their magic and their cunning craft in the making of beautiful and marvellous things, before some came back into the Wide World. In the Wide World the Wood-elves lingered in hte twilight of the Sun and Moon, but loved best the stars; and they wandered in the great forests that grew tall in lands that are now lost. They dwelt most often by the edges of the woods, from which they could escape at times to hunt, or to ride and run over the open lands by moonlight or starlight; and after the coming of Men they took ever more and more to the glamingand the dusk. Still elves they were and remain, and that is Good People." (I know it's a bit long :D)
Hobbits: (this is going to be longer I think) "They are (or were) a little people, about half our height, and smaller than bearded Dwarves. Hobbits have no beards. There is little of no magic about them, except the ordinary everyday sort which helps them to disappear quietly and quickly when large stupid folk like you and me come blundering along, making a noise like elephants which they can hear a mile off. They are inclined to be fat in the stomach, they dress in bright colours (chiefly green and yellow); wear no shoes, because their feet grow natural leathery soles and thick warm brown hair like the stuff on their heads (which is curly); have long clever brown fingers, good natured faces, and laugh deep fruity laughs (especially after dinner, which they have twice a day when they can get it). "
Elrond: he "was an elf-friend - one of those people whose fathers came into the strange stoies before the beginning of History, they wars of the evil goblins and the elves and the first men in the North... He was as noble and fair in face as an elf-lord, as strong as a warrior, as wise as a wizard, as venerable as a king of dwarves."
I think that will do!!

"Please pay attention children. Quiet please" Lord Elrond pleaded at the front of the room, but he wasn't heard. Nothing was over the yelling and screaming going on in the hall.
"Be quiet" he tried again. A few kids at the front of the room turned around in their seats to face him, but the rest of the pack continued throwing paper around.
"OI! SHUT UP!" Elrond screamed at the top of his lungs.
The hall was silent, save for the echoing sneeze of a contagious elf.
"That's better" Elrond sighed. "My name is Lord Elrond and I am the principal of this school. Think of me as your judge, jury and executioner. Here, troublemakers will be delt with swiftly and severely. I suggest that all you children try to keep out of trouble." The worldless "or else" was felt throughout the hall.
He emphasised the word 'children' in the last sentence, making himself feel a bit more powerful. He needed it.
"What happened to the whole 'nurturing envirnment' deal on the brochure?" a girl whispered to her friend
"Yeah, I know Arisha, it's sounding a bit more like a millitary school right about now, and there was a good enough one of them back in Gondor" Her "friend" Dimnovion replied.
"Now you are going to be split up into your dorm rooms. There are three hallways. Each hallway has four rooms. There are two boys rooms and two girls rooms. Each room has five students. If you calculate correctly," (here he paused his tirade to look with accusation at the faces before him) "you'll know that means we have 60 students. These six third year students will take you to your rooms. Please listen for your names to be called" Elrond explained "This is Aragorn, Legolas, Europa, Ariadne, Simon and Simone. They are going to look after you"
The teenagers sat on the floor, anxiously, waiting to find out who they woul be stuck sharing a room with for the rest of the year.
"I hope i'm in your room Pippin, we'll have so much fun together" A small girl called Hanna said
"Um, I think they separate the boys and the girls." Arisha laughed at the stupidity of this hobbit
"Oh, um, yeah, I knew that," Hanna tried to excuse herself "I just forgot."
"Yeah right" Arisha mocked again, her friends joining in this time.
"You don't have to make fun of her for it. It's not very nice" a new female voice joined in the fray
"I'm sorry who are you?" Arisha asked, the sneer in her voice almost palpible.
"I'm Aralithiel" the voice replied
"That's nice, I don't care" Arisha smiled a mocking smile and walked off
"Wonder what's up her butt." Aralithiel laughed
"I don't really know," Hanna replied "I'm Hanna."
"Call me Ara."
"Nice to meet you."

It was a dark and stormy night, only it wasn't really that dark and the storm had passed a couple of hours ago. So in hindsight it was more of a peaceful sort of dusk time of day. But, anyway, I have a story to tell.
The story consists of several characters. They're not friends, well, not at the beginning of my tale. They begin as strangers, but the best of strangers.
So my tale begins at dusk. A lonely rider travels the worn path to the ancient city of Rivendell. It's not a rare occurace to find this rider travelling. It's what she does. She travels from town to town, city to city, place to place, searching, searching for an elusive something. I don't know what, and I think neither does she. But she's always looking. Always.
She doesn't stop to sleep, she doesn't stop to eat. For four days straight her horse has been steadily trotting along. Unusual for a horse I know, don't ask me to explain it, he's just a good horse.
EDIT: I just changed some wording etc ~Tyrium
